Eight hours of blissful sleep. I only woke up once due to my friend snoring. Once I hit her, she stopped (thank goodness). =)I was reading Psalm 18 last night and was reminded that we do not live by our own strength. Words such as “He reached down,” “He rescued me,” You save”—all these remind me that God is our strong tower. All of my insecurities, all of my fears, all of my apprehension- “the Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer, my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies” (vs 1-3). The Lord will give me strength when I need it. The trick is to remember to ask for it. =)

Jackson pulled out the bongo (?) drum and Larry brought out his didgeridoo after breakfast this morning. It was amazing! The sounds blended together so well; it had an almost eerie feel to it sometimes. Amazing instrument, that didgeridoo. I felt that I should do an interpretive dance, but that would probably be traumatic for all.
All this morning we organized a ton of supplies that had been donated to the church at which we were staying. People living at the FEMA trailer parks are coming tomorrow evening to get what they need from our “store.” They will stay to talk with us and to play exciting games like dominos and BINGO. Obviously, those coming will be a little older. I do like BINGO, though. It’s great fun. I don’t know if I’ve ever played dominos.
So Jake walks toward the kitchen. “Oh man, whoever let that one loose should ‘fess up because it was a good one! This is nothing to be ashamed of!” It turned out that it was the taco meat, not a fart. We get to eat that later! Lovely.
Well, they’re calling us back to work. Time for more organizing!

And organize we did! Holy cow, I’m tired. Well, not tired so much as weary. And my feet hurt. We unpacked so many boxes, and folded so many clothes, and put so much stuff on tables. We had fun, though; it’s always better to do tedious chores like this with friends. It was pretty dusty down there- I’m excited to take a shower! =)

So I was a walking contradiction today. I was wearing my USC sweatshirt, along with a hat with a shamrock saying, “I love football,” implying Notre Dame. *sigh* I am a shame to my family. In my defense, however, the hat was only $2-3, and I don’t mind it getting dirty. That’s why I bought it. Plus, the implication didn’t even occur to me until someone said something. Gah. I think that’s about all for today. Shower, dinner, then who knows what. Hopefully nothing too strenuous. I’m ready for food and sleep! =)

Psalm 18 is one of my favorites. "He rescued me because he delighted in me"....
So amazing that our great God would stoop low to our level and help us out.
