Woot- weekend!

Well, I made it through the first week of school. *phew* Again, it will be a lot of thinking and a ton of reading, but I'll survive. I'll probably cut down on my social activities, especially because a bunch of us are working out at the gym- that can be some of my social time. =) I got a new job today! My psych prof asked me if I wanted to TA for Intro to Psych. I said- YES! Of course! I will be holding study sessions, grading papers, and entering grades into the computer (at least that's the impression I got from our momentary conversation). I will also be meeting with the prof about once a week, so that will be great to build up a relationship with her.

I have had 2 meetings this week for the mission trip I am going on to New Orleans during spring break. Everything is so up in the air- plans change every time we get together. At this point, we will be flying into Baton Rouge and setting up computers for two days. Then we will go over to New Orleans for the next two days to tear down houses, then over to some other city to help with a church plant/construction. Jill went to New Orleans over Christmas break, and she said that though there is no more water that is knee-deep, there is mud and oil knee-deep in certain areas. Houses have feet of mud inside, and everything- everything- is just destroyed, whether it is completely leveled or "just" water/mud/wind damaged. I'm really excited to go down there, however, and be able to serve the people who are in such need.

The sophomores in my dorm and the sophomores in one of the guy dorms went Bubble Gum Bowling last night. Everyone buys a pack of gum and consolidates it all. Each team competes against the the team in the lane adjoining to theirs. Every time a team gets a strike or a spare, the other team has to chew a piece of gum and they cannot spit it out. My poor friend Kelly must have picked up about a zillion Bubble Yum because her wad of gum was massive- she split it in half and put half in each cheek, and she looked like a chipmunk! The wise thing to do is to go for the Orbitz or Trident- they're small. We were all pretty sick with the amount of gum and sugar in our mouths. I was actually pretty close to throwing up at one point. Needless to say, I won't be having gum for awhile... =) It was fun, though. I will post pictures when I get them developed.

We have a 3-day weekend! Hooray for MLK! Hehe. My plan is to (yeah right) get all my homework done today, tomorrow, and Sunday so we can do whatever we want on Monday without having to think about the homework we haven't completed. It's raining, so that limits our activities. Tonight however, we are going to In-n-Out for a little birthday celebration since my birthday was during break. Then we're going to a back-to-school dance party at the Red Lion Inn/Hotel/whatever. There's going to be a real DJ there and everything! I can't believe our school would pay for something like that... =)

I need to get to Target something this weekend as well. The washing machine has been eating my socks- out of nowhere, I have only 2.5 pairs left! I have no clue where they all went.

Well, I had best get to work so I can get *some*thing done before dinner. I had a New Year's Resolution the other day (hey- better late than never): to actually work diligently on my homework this semester, and not blow it off like I did last semester. I still managed to do well, but I know I didn't learn as much as I could have. So this semester will be different! I say that now...
Have a good holiday weekend!
