A Summer Cold is the Worst

Because you feel a tad chilly, though you know it's hot outside. You can even feel the heat, but it does not relieve the discomfort. *sigh* But I'm feeling better today.

We're going to a school family's house for a 4th of July celebration. My best friends are supposed to be there. =) I haven't spent as much time with them this summer as I would have liked. A volleyball net is always set up there, so that's exciting. I haven't played as much volleyball as I would liked, either. I could play Monday nights, but I feel the guy who is usually on my team gets frustrated with my lack of playing abilities. He's really good. He has a very nice serve that's very tricky. So anyway, I've stopped going because I'm more discouraged going than I am staying home and doing nothing. But I'll play today.

So I think my trip up north is out. *SIGH* I really, really wanted to go, too. Aside from the month of August, that was the most exciting thing I was going to do this summer. I'm really bummed. My mom didn't want just Abby and I to drive up, she's worried or something. We won't mention that Beck and Cate have done it tons of times by themselves and been fine. And we certainly won't mention that my mother drive from California to Kentucky by herself when she was 19. I'm 18, and I'm taking Abby with me. Mom and Dad wanted a responsible driver (preferably male) to help drive on the way back. They were fine with us driving up, but they were concerned I was going to be too tired to drive on the way back. Basically, we can get up there, but can't get back down. Poo. We called A-Rod to see if he would come with is, but he'll be working Saturday and Monday. Boo. And then I couldn't think of anyone else. We looked into AmTrak and Greyhound, but they both took too long. We would be on the train from 5:50 in the morning to 6:18 at night. To go 7 hours driving. Ha. So that was definitely out. In conclusion, I'm sorry to disappoint, but I'm afraid the trip will not work. Unless anyone has any more ideas? (But Cate, I will talk to you about the August thing.)

Well, on that cheerful holiday note, I shall bid you adieu, and happy 4th of July!
Niloticus and TAB, ride safely to Illinois, don't die, and have a great time. =) (Oh! Excitement! I said ride, not drive!!)

Hey, don't let that guy discourage you from playing--if he's THAT good, then he can find a league with other people of his caliber. Church games generally don't have all-star players, and his expectations shouldn't keep less-than-stellar players from having fun...

BAH HUMBUG! Of course you won't be too tired. Too tired!?! You have someone else in the car whose sole mission is to make sure you stay awake! Time flies when you have passangers.
Too tired is not sleeping enough (and some nights just plain not sleeping) during finals week, then, after your last final gets out at 5 pm, packing your car and leaving at 7 pm, by yourself, to drive the long, dark and lonely stretch of highway, making it home by two in the morning. That's too tired. And that's happened, several times, to someone who... uh... we won't mention at this time.
Man, those were the days. =)

We will try (to not die) and by definition the trip should be fun.

As a P.S. to Becky's comment: We also won't mention the fact that God repeatedly and graciously answers the prayers of rational parents - while the previously unmentioned kids of those rational parents attempt irrational conquests...
