"This Is How A Heart Breaks"

Let Horry have the ball at the end of a close playoff game. That, my friends, is how a heart breaks. At least for the other team. Horry is definitely my favorite player, and not just because of this shot. Remember that awesome shot a few years back against the Kings? Oh yeah. Classic. Plus, he's a good sport. I was impressed with his comments on the post-game interview by the lady from channel 7. If I ever bought a jersey, I would get one with his name on it. Though I'd be torn whether to get a Laker's Horry jersey or a Spurs Horry jersey. Decisions, decisions. Though getting that other jersey would be funny too. The Golden State Warrior with my last name... even though he's no good.

My family and I, with Grandma, went to LA yesterday (yes, Cate, we took lots of pictures). We started out at the LAPD museum. Grandma has been wanting to go for a long time because Grandpa was and LAPD officer. the museum was extremely interesting. We saw the car and the cop car that got shot up in the Hollywood BofA shootout in '97 or whenever. They had the actual cars there, and let me tell you- I would not want to be hit with one of those bullets. Ouch. They also had a really cool tank. I wish I could drive it. =)
Even though my sisters and I have lived in Southern California all our lives, we have never been to Hollywood. Or at least the famous part of it. My parents thought it was about time we saw all the famous sites, so we continued the day by walking down Hollywood Boulevard and looking at all the stars in the sidewalk. Mom got her picture taken with Harrison Ford's star- he's her favorite actor. There's a restaraunt down there called Pig'n Whistle. Grandma has one of their menus from 1943, so we dropped by to see how much it had changed. It's a bar now. And a lot more expensive, amazingly enough.
We also went to Grauman's Chinese Theater where the hand/foot prints are. For some reason, the older stars had really small feet. REALLY small feet. Though maybe it was their dress shoes that made the prints look small. Who knows. To my great joy and delight, especially since I couldn't find his star, I found Jimmy Stewart's prints, and got a picture with them.
We ate at a little hotdog place called Scooby's for lunch. I would scan and post the sticker we got there, but my parent's computer doesn't have Hello. The hotdogs were good- the buns were toasted!! The lemonade in my Arnold Palmer was good too. They fresh-squeeze it right there in the store. My mom LOVED the fries there, which is unusual because she really doesn't like French Fries. But holy cow, were these good! She's really disappointed that they're all the way out in Hollywood. =)
Anyway, after looking at all that, we went to find the big houses in Beverly Hills. Sadly, everyone decided that they liked privacy for some strange reason and planted huge hedges all around their property. Ah well. Some of the ones we saw were pretty spectacular.
Since we're fast sight-seers, we made our way over to the La Brea Tar Pits. Apparently, "tens of thousands of years ago" a bunch of animals got stuck in the tar out on Wilshire Blvd. Man, mammoths are HUGE!! I wouldn't want to run into one. Especially because they're extinct.
My dad's family lived in LA when he was young. They frequented a little Mexican restaraunt called La Cholo. We went there for "old time's sake." It was kinda expensive, but the food was sure good. Best part was, Matt Leinart had autographed a magazine with his picture on when we were #1. (We still are #1, but I think this was our first year being #1in our present winning streak.) Of course, some of us hoped that he would just happen to decide to go to La Cholo for dinner that night. He didn't.

After a refreshing dinner, we went to Farmer's Market, which Mom remembered as being wooden booths in a big parking lot. Well, the big parking lot has mammothed its way into an 8-story parking garage and a very ritzy outdoor mall. I mean the bathroom in the parking structure had a maid who (whom?) you were supposed to tip. Pshaw.

No one had had any sugar all day, so on our way home we stopped at Cold Stone. I committed the biggest no-no in Eating Healthy- I ate after 7:00. It was 9:30 PM and I was eating ice cream. I felt so guilty!! But I'm going running tomorrow morning, so hopefully that will take care of at least a little bit...

So my weekend well. Hope your did too. =)

Go Spurs!!!

Oh, and Happy Father's Day. =)

PS. I did not check my spelling, so apologies for any errors.

YEAHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Another basketball fan. And by the way it would have to be a SPURS jersey. I still think a shirt that says Got Manu? or Obi Wan Ginobilli would be cool too. But big shot Bob got it done last night.
