Yes! I was that hot!
Ok, so I participated in our city's annual 5k run/walk; hence, traffic was already stopped and I was hot in the I'm-sweating-buckets sense of the word. For some strange reason, I always get up at the crack of dawn and run 3.1 miles when I am not in shape for this dumb thing. I'm always dying at the end. I'm always a tad sore the next day. Yes, I know 3.1 miles is pathetic. But hey- I'm out of shape and part of the run was up a big hill. It can take a toll.
The first part went well. I buzzed right along at my own pace and didn't tire out too fast, amazingly enough. Once I turned the corner to go up the hill, all the old men started passing me. Dang it. I trudged my way up the hill and finally got to the flat part again. It was going ok, until half-way across the flat stretch when a mom with her stroller passed me. Hey! That's it- I'm going faster! Well, that lasted for about 5 seconds before I decided that yes, I was indeed a wimp and didn't really care. A young boy sprinted my me in the last leg of the journey. I think I passed him later.
But I finished, which is what mattered. And I didn't finish last. Perhaps last in my age group, but I don't know that so I will assume that I didn't. =) Mom got 2nd in her age group. Go Mom!
Otherwise, pretty low-key here. I'm still looking for a job. It would be nice if someone just sent me a generous check every couple weeks for no good reason but love and good will.
The neighbors have people over at their house, presumable for mother's day. Some kid is laughing/yelling obnoxiously.
Looks like the Ducks are going into overtime against the Red Wings. Dang, I wish we had cable. Or they (whoever "they" are) would put Ducks games on local channels.
If you are in need of a good, easy-yet-challenging summer read, I recommend Under the Overpass by Michael Yankoski. Fabulous read. GO READ IT NOW.
Ok, off to watch a movie! Go Ducks!
