Spring Break

Well, tomorrow at 2 am we head off on our mission trip to Louisianna. Yikes! Everything has come up so quickly- it's hard to believe it's getting close to the end of February! I think it's really lame that spring break is this early- why couldn't it have been in March sometime?? We won't get a break until Easter, when we have a 4-day weekend. We come back for 4 days of school and then it's finals week. So I probably won't be going home until finals- sad! And they can't come fast enough, let me tell you. This semester is about to kill me; homework is extremely demanding for some reason. Plus, I have had meetings for the mission trip as well as TAing and going to the gym. It's been so crazy.

Anyway, enough griping.

I am both excited and scared for this trip. I am so excited to see a different culture, and be able to help out in the wake of this disaster. However, I feel so inadequate in being there and talking to the residents. I have never experienced anything close to what they have gone through in the past 6 months; I am at such a loss at what I should say. I know to definitely not say, "I understand"- because I don't! Just sympathize with them and let them talk. Wisdom will certainly be needed when difficult situations arise!

I probably won't be posting anything here, but our group will be blogging for both the school and the local newspaper. I am bringing a journal to write my experiences in so that I can copy it onto this blog so you all can read about what we did. All those who helped me monetarily, thank you very much! I raised enough money, and I am so thankful for your support! We will be sending out thank-you notes after the trip with pictures included to give you a glimpse of what you helped support.

My duffel bag was not big enough to hold all my stuff, so I borrowed a medium sized duffel from my friend Mary and let her use my zebra roller. However, her duffel is just barely too small. What to do, what to do. Oh, I just remembered other necessities (more than one pair of underwear tends to be helpful...).

Well, we're going to watch a movie while our clothes are in the dryer. Please keep us in your prayers as we try to help out in the South.

I will post when I return! =)

So I do know this is late but I think it is so cool that you get to go help out. I will be praying for you. I think that it has been awesome how different churches have provided help for those down south. I can't wait to hear about your time down there.
