(See, I told you that you would be the hero of my blog. Well, at least this entry.)
As usually happens on Sunday mornings, I went to church with my parents. I met up with Elisabeth and Jon to give Elisabeth a present for her 19th birthday (Happy Birthday, Elisabeth!!!). Apparently, they were going wakeboarding at Lake Perris, so they invited me to go along. I, of course, said yes. I thought I would brush up on my wakeboarding skills (or lack thereof) before houseboating. When we finally got to Perris, we found that it was full- no more boats allowed on the lake. Boo. So we drove over to Lake Elsinore instead.
After arriving at the lake, we waited about 45 minutes in a long line of cars (and it's all because of YOU!) who all wanted to launch their boats as well. Our launching was successful.
Side note: We = Davy, Elisabeth, me, Jon, James, JJ, and Nick.
Back to story. After we all got out on the water, we started to tour the great lake of Elsinore. *snort* It was tiny, choppy, crowded, and smelled like sewage. I can't wait for houseboating...
While some of the boys tried to start the boat which had stalled in the middle of the lake, Liz, James, and I took the Sea-Doos out, trying to get our bearings and find a good place to wakeboard, assuming the boat recovered. We figured it had since we later didn't find it where we had left it.
Once everyone met up again, we traded people on Sea-Doos and Liz went skiing/boarding. After that, we toodled around some more. Eventually, it was my turn to board. Yay!! Unfortunately, no one in the group had ever gotten anyone up on skis or boards before, so I (of all people) had to tell James how to do it, best I knew how.
As he accelerated, I felt myself being pulled up... then a jerk... face plant... dang it. I figured that the rope had caught on the outboard motor or something, which explained the jerk. Boat circles around... I am told that I'm going to have to come in- the post to which the ski rope was tied had completely ripped out the screws that held it into the boat. So much for wake boarding.
So we wandered around the lake, searching for the Sea- Dooers. We happened to see a cloud of rain at the dock- huh, isn't that interesting. Hey, it's getting a little foggy. Wow, the spray is really hard. Oh wait. I can't see a thing. And it's RAINING. It rained cats and dogs out there. Davy did a marvelous job of calmly driving the boat through thick fog, 2 foot waves, and pelting rain. Davy is my hero. =)
But it was just crazy how one minute you're happily soaking up the sun, and the next minute you're drenched. Especially in SoCal. This is twice it has poured in 5 days!! Craziness. AND! A couple days ago, the weather-warning people interrupted the radio to inform us that there was a tornado in Hemet. I told Dad it must be the end times.
So I finally have something to blog about- an attempt to wakeboard, more drenching rain, and a tornado. =)
