Has anyone seen the movie Harvey with James Stewart? Rather, starring James Stewart because I haven't seen the movie with him either. If there were more people like Elwood P. Dowd (Stewart's character), the world would be a much better place, though there would be an overabundance of invisible white rabbits. I love that movie. James Stewart is the best actor ever. Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, You Can't Take It With You, and of course the classic It's A Wonderful Life. I wonder if Stewart was as nice in real life as he was in the movies? He's the one actor I would have loved to have met.
I've been working my butt off at Juice It Up. Holy cow, that place gets busy. But it's fun.
So Gwen asked an interesting question the other day. Why do we call meeting "breaking of bread"? Why don't we call it "drinking of wine"? Mom pointed out that we might draw a bigger crowd. Beck, Liz, and I (and I'm sure many others) refer to breaking of bread as BOB. So we should call meeting Bob Dow. Dow reminded us of the Dow Jones stock stuff, so Mom made up a acronym for the "jones" part. Something about joyfully offering needed economic supply." Everyone in favor of calling meeting "Bob Dow Jones", please say "aye."
Well, it's time for lunch. If anyone knows where I can get cheap (cheap, cheap) airfares, please let me know. Thank you and good day.

Aye...as in "Aye think you're all crazy" :)
Depends on where you want to go. Southwest has decent deals if you book far enough in advance. Or AA.com sometimes. Or Jetblue. Or go to Orbitz. Can you tell I've done my share of researching flights? :)
"And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers"
"And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house..."
Acts 2:42,46
Also,
"The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread."
- Luke 24:34-35
To break bread can also mean simply to eat a meal especially if bread is eaten, and especially in the mideastern style, but the Christian sense has come to overshadow this broader meaning.
Another common term among various christian groups is ommunion:
"The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?"
1 Cor 10:16
Although I think in that verse Paul is using the word to describe an aspect of, rather than denote the bread and wine.
But who can argue with Christianese...
That doesn't mean WE have to call it Breaking of Bread just 'cause the Bible does...=)
Abby
